The agreement for VA to provide computers for representatives and service office support staff has been reinstated; requests for equipment can be submitted immediately. Instructions on how to request equipment from your local VA IT Department along with a copy of the signed MOU and a VA Hand Receipt are attached to this update.
A few key facts about the program:
· This agreement authorizes one VA furnished laptop to each staff member assigned to a VA facility (This includes support staff).
· The equipment is issued to the individual user, not the office. When a staff member leaves, the equipment must be turned into the VA and any replacement staff will need to submit a new request for equipment.
· Additional equipment such as monitors, keyboards, mice, etc. will not be issued and should not be requested from VA.
· This agreement is for VFW primary accredited representatives only, cross accredited representatives are not currently authorized to request equipment.
· If you currently have a VA imaged computer, you will need to return it to VA IT to receive the new equipment. VA IT will remove the hard drive and destroy it. They will not replace your hard drive.
· Once issued equipment, you will be enrolled in VA’s refresh program and will receive new equipment during a regular refresh cycle
· You are responsible for maintaining the equipment, NVS will not be responsible for any lost or damaged equipment
· If you have a laptop that was purchased by NVS, you do not need to return it to NVS.
Please start submitting requests for VA equipment as soon as possible, do not wait for your current equipment to fail.
